For news & updates about 'Sam Burke Glass Art'

Less than 8 weeks !!

Don't panic... It is less than 8 weeks until the Living Crafts' 4 day event at Hatfield House Park, so I am busy creating new pieces for you. I am looking forward to getting out there & meeting you all again. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us too. At the last Living Crafts' event, in May 2019, it hailed!

Here are 2 smaller pate de verre dishes, finished with 24ct gold leaf.  They will be coming with me to the Living Crafts' event.

My 1st 2021 event in Stony Stratford is on...

Saturday 10th July.

Please see 'Where to see & buy my glass art' page for details.

It is a 'Made in Stony' event with stalls from our members (Stony based artisans) & also selected 'Guest' (local non Stony) artisans.  We will also have a 'pop up' gallery too.

Pate de verre is here

Here is my first pate de verre piece, for sale. Created using a single mould (hand built by me), lots of coldworking (refining) & over 60 hours in the kiln. All glass & finished with 24ct gold leaf.

It will be available to see & purchase at the Bucks Art Weeks' exhibition in June.  UPDATE 15th May: this piece will now be with me at the Living Crafts event in June.

Pate de verre

I have found pate de verre.  The literal translation is paste of glass & is understood to have first been created by the ancient Egyptians.

The process is long & time consuming, but has so many opportunities for creative input.  Each piece is created using a single use mould which I hand build & each piece is in the kiln for over 60 hours in total!

I will be posting photographs of some of my finished pieces on this website & on my social media sites.  The finished pieces will be available to see & purchase at the 2 events in June.
